Relentless wind in iFLY

, , ,

Our journey started as we made our way over to Birmingham, seeing the vast lands passing by either sides of the M1 motorway. My excitement was piling up whilst making the journey to the indoor sky-diving area located in Milton Keynes where our travel had to be stopped to glide in the skydiving atmosphere in iFLY.

Getting started

We arrived at our destination and entered into the attraction. Our first sight was to fill out some details(typical). Then came the most monotonous part of the excitement; which was the waiting to commence our flight in the wind. After a few minutes we dressed up in sky-diving suits, which were surprisingly comfortable as the suits felt like soft cushion.

Safety precautions

Before the flight actually took place we had to watch a clip mentioning all the safety rules and signs used to direct what people should do. There are four signs which the instructor uses. They do this due to the immense sound projected by the wind, which makes it almost impossible to hear anything except from the roaring wind raging ruthlessly into your face.

Excitement stacking up

After we were told about the health and safety precautions we made our way into the simulator. A group of people before our arrival were in for the last minutes. Seeing them perform gave me a feeling that it would be really easy, then I understood it’s a completely different story inside. It was quiet humorous watching other people fly in the air. A small kid who seemed like he’d never done skydiving before managed to somehow almost accomplish doing a front-flip unintentionally!

My experience

I never thought I would have said this but I felt minutely anxious about flying. The wind is the only thing you hear. I was called up by the instructor. I steadily took the step and leant forward. The next second I realised that I was gliding with the wind blasting into me at around 120 mph. I don’t know how the instructor managed to balance with that much wind and simultaneously control me.

Throughout the flight you had to keep your chin up as well as keeping your legs straight and wide, forming a U-shape with the arms being held high up. It was somewhat complicated to perform considering that the wind flung my legs.

High-fly

This is an experience you don’t want to miss out! The instructor asked me whether I want to do high-fly, to which I replied ‘yes!’. It started of with the same tempo. He adjusted my position in order to make sure everything was safe for me to do high-fly. I slowly descended my head; looking into the fans which project the enormous amount of wind. I slowly observed that he ascended with me spinning round in circles; suddenly he lifted up with me and shot off to the top just like my excitement.

Let the professionals show how it’s done

Before the session ends the instructor has a treat for you. He performs a few stunts of his skills and shows off what he knows. I don’t know what others thought of it but it was pure magic for me. I can’t express what he did in words as I was absolutely stunned by his perfection in the stunts.

Our session concluded with the same excitement as it began. My experience left me with complete happiness and I hope to enrol into similar thrilling attractions. Have you ever wanted to try indoor skydiving? Well, visit the iFLY website and book your tickets to turn your excitement into a reality.
