I am Tim Cook. I lie, I am not really Tim Cook but I want to be Tim Cook, one day. I lie again. I don’t want to be Tim Cook, I just want his job. He, in case you don’t know is the CEO of Apple. I want to be the CEO. How do I get there?
I wonder how Steve Jobs got there and I wonder how Tim Cook got there. Is there some sort of path each followed? Or did they come by completely different directions? What do they have in common? The same ways of thinking? The same sort of idea? Similar goals, work ethnic, attitude?
I don’t know. How to get started? Um!
I’ve got an idea! Why didn’t I think of this before?
I am going to write a letter to Tim Cook, telling him about my goals and aspirations and see what he says.
So I wrote.
And waited. Nearly a month. And then one day I noticed an envelope in post and it looked completely different from any envelope I had ever seen. I grabbed it and began to rip it open. What was inside?
I tore back the envelope and peered inside. I stared at the letter. There was only one sentence. It read: Convince me you have imagination. Signed: Tim Cook. P.S. you have two days!
Two days! Imagination! Two days! Imagination! Two… I’ve got an idea!
I couldn’t simply attend to an interview and instinctively acknowledge it. I acquired his sole sentence and tried to grasp the lion’s share of it to recognize each individual word and their significance to figure out his real intention. Now I realized that capability is of minimal prominence without an opportunity. So, I endeavored the reading to yield prosperity.
I evoked the thought by considering the true meaning of the word, “convince” which I thought would require notion. I wondered what would convince someone at such a high position.
Is it imagination or is it knowledge? What’s the difference?
Imagination is used to create knowledge whether it’s interpreted knowledge or factually stored knowledge. This compressed connection of imagination and knowledge bundled up on me as I was required to express only my imagination; it left me hanging in the midst of my choice as to how I am willing to convince Tim Cook.
I had two days left which meant forty eight hours or even more flexibly – two thousand eight hundred and eighty minutes! I had all this time to prepare my knowledge to an extent that I gain the capacity to beat my interviewer.
There were definitely limitless ways to show my capacity. The capacity to beat your employer though, only comes from your own power, by surpassing your constraints and reinforcing your imagination.
What could I do to show Tim Cook my capability?
For some time, I tried to understand his enquiry and then I came to an interpretation that he is most likely intending me to astonish him with my high tech wit.
How am I going to determine this? Is it by being as simple as a schoolboy’s logic or as adept as paint in a free flowing style? Yes, I think I will agree to my own thoughts and frame my own faculty.
Now I know the real meaning of why he restricted me to two days. It was quite elementary really…
When I received the envelope, I opened it with joy that was selfishly resolved into confusion. Now I’m at a position of influential confidence therefore, I am going to use this preciously to go to Tim Cook with a simple and strong mindset. I will go there with my imagination to show my flair with preponderant confidence. Simultaneously I will show why I apt to be intellectual in technology and deliberately choose to inspire others alongside gaining inspiration.
I questioned myself as to why I’m doing all of this for a moment. Advantageously, the thought made me reclaim to when my father told me, “Never give up on your hopes or dreams, they are the other half of your existence…” It is now my decision to choose whether I am going to follow a path of great opportunity or be a silent dearth.
Lost opportunities are like precious jewels locked in the casket of regret, whose key is held in the unchanging past. For me, receiving one of the greatest opportunities in my lifetime was a perfect juncture to manifest my imagination and show my paramount potential.
A few minutes later, I heard the knocking of the front door.
I approached the doorway steadily with increasing amounts of excitement.
I gripped the door with the tightest of my fists and allowed the nature to decide my accountancy. The next moment, I heard the most far-fetched invitation.
I got invited to the Apple Campus as a visitor to get a tour around the building by Tim Cook!
I wondered. How did all of this imagination without any unveiling, construct this amount of power? I felt like this was the beginning of my journey towards becoming the CEO of Apple. It also seemed like a small welcome towards the thoughts of truly genius minds…
