2018 for me has been a year of gathering knowledge and learning. I’ve had countless adventures and, along the way, I discovered extraordinary work from many interesting people. This blog would be close to “endless” if I listed every great human being I came across in 2018, so, with respect to everyone, here’s a concise list.
Seth Godin
Where do I start? Marketing, blogging, public speaking, books and podcasts – Seth’s done it all! He really makes you question, “Where does this guy get that much time and knowledge to maintain such an extraordinary profession?” And that’s exactly what we can learn from Seth.
Seth Godin is an entrepreneur who mainly focuses on marketing and getting your work to shine amongst your competition. He publishes definitive content and writes life-changing blogs. Due to his focus being marketing, he mostly speaks in that perspective; if you’re looking for marketing advice, he’s a go-to.
Personally, Seth Godin has taught me many lessons. Here are a couple:
- Grit – Seth has been uploading a blog every day almost since 2003! He has 7000 posts and literally seems to have an infinite supply of ideas. He inspires me to to be more productive and to organise my time.
- Care – Maintaining things is a difficult task. It adds weight on your shoulder and can turn into strife. From his work, specifically the time and attention to everything, I have learnt to look after things with care, and it truly transforms the perspective.
If you want to learn more, you should check out Seth!
Sadhguru
Sadhguru is a man and a mystic, with a mission. It goes without saying that he’s perhaps the most relaxed person I’ve seen. And one of the most knowledgable too. He gives public events and his work is focused on inner engineering to promote awareness and explore new dimensions within our bodies. It’s plain sailing to be addicted to his events once you see snippets; it’s definitely valuable.
He writes beautiful articles and has athletic interviews including one of his successful projects, “Youth and Truth“. I highly recommend his YouTube channel.
Tim Ferris
You: Dear productivity, can you help me?
Productivity: I’ve got a person – Tim Ferris.
Tim Ferris is an American author who’s written bestsellers including “The 4-Hour Work Week“. Personally, I came across Tim whilst looking up for some new podcasts and thought of giving his “The Time Ferris Show” a go! It was elaborate and packed with life tools.
Tim Ferris centres on productivity. And his tips are effective! If you’re hustling and would like to boost your output, Tim can help you out. He also interviews many interesting individuals on his podcast that I’ve enjoyed recently.
Bill & Malinda Gates Foundation
Technology, science and research, philanthropy and travel are what Bill gates can be recognised by. In recent years, after retiring from Microsoft, Bill has concentrated his work on philanthropy in order to improve the world that we are living in. Some of us are almost put in shame following his achievements; he aims for the best and produces it. He’s successfully invested in technologies that have revolutionised the standards of living particularly in Africa and many more places around the world.
His blogs in “Gates Notes” carry immense potential that can change the future. Words cannot define the dynamism behind his projects. They’re simply magnificent.
Why keep you waiting from his secrets? Unravel them and share the key to his breakthroughs by checking out gatesnotes.
Mark Rober
Are you looking for some awesome projects to do at home? Allow Mark to spice up the heat. Engineering is a branch that we can all simply agree as incredible. I love it! I ventured across Mark Rober’s YouTube channel and was exhilarated. Mark Rober is an engineer who’s worked on NASA’ s Curiosity project to Mars and is currently a YouTuber engineering weird and wonderful things! Check it out!
Matt D’Avella
Have you ever come across minimalism? Meet Matt.
Matt D’Avella is a minimalist filmmaker who’s directed the documentary “Minimalism“. He creates addictive content on YouTube which revolves around filmmaking and lifestyle. Are his videos funny? You bet! Personally, he taught minimalism from a unique perspective – it’s not about simplifying everything and having the least amount of things, it’s about getting rid of distractions.
I have found his work to be interesting and effective. Additionally, his podcast called “The Ground Up Show” is spectacular. The podcasts are of good length and feature business professionals with interesting backgrounds.
I thank 2018 for allowing me to discover these incredible personalities who’ve helped me journey through the year with a smooth transition. I hope to uncover more intellectuals and bright ideas in a fresh 2019.
