A Unique Experience at Curve Wake Water Park

, , , ,

Recently, we visited Curve Wake Park – a water park located in Clacton-on-sea. It’s an outdoor water park in a convenient lake with many activities including an aqua park, kayaking, paddleboarding, wakeboarding and a Ringo ride. Along with delight and excitement, there are also a few uncomfortable features in this park.

What is there?

These are the activities that you can do:

  1. Aqua Park – A thrilling obstacles course with a trampoline and a 40ft stadium. Sounds thrilling?
  2. Wakeboarding – Putting your balance and strength to the test, this activity requires you to hold onto a handle and float on the water with a board. Then, you can give up everything to the handle. The fun lies in the ramps that they have which bump up the ride!
  3. Paddle boarding – using a similar board, you’re given an oar and you stand on the board and paddle away!
  4. Kayaking – we all know this one… But don’t confuse it with canoeing. Although, they have a mix of kayaks and canoes that you can choose from to ride on.
  5. Ringo Ride – lastly, the special one! The Ringo ride takes you on a “big inflatable doughnut” at a rapid speed so that you get every splash of the way.

As the location has such a massive body of water, there are plenty of activities to choose from.

At the location itself, they have a car parking tucked opposite the lake. If you find the spot, you’re in an advantage. Also, there are good changing facilities for getting changed. They have sufficient spaces with curtain rods which are not super-private, however, they serve the purpose.

In terms of accessibility, there are plenty of stores including the Clacton shopping village and the Clacton-On-Sea beach nearby.

So if you plan to spend the morning at Curve Wake Water Park and the afternoon around the beach, you’re all set!

How is the Quality?

For most aspects, the quality was reasonable. What do I mean by this?

Well…

Having located in a countryside area, the quality of the site is acceptable. There’s one main room for administration buying any equipment. That aside, there’s a cafe which gives you the regular options. One thing that wasn’t reasonable was the expensive cafe… Most of the food/drinks there are overly priced. As there are no stores immediately nearby, you’re forced to go with it.

The changing rooms were good for the location they’re in; considering they had carpet flooring and curtains, it seemed quite posh. Whilst serving the purpose, I did feel that they could have just been more to the point and designed more simply.

In terms of the activities themselves, they were all reasonable prices. There was an option offering all the activities in one bundle. We would have gone for that however due to an unavailable slot we took the next option down. Regardless, it’s worth choosing the large bundles unless you’re not willing to try out a particular activity.

Additionally, the gear is provided in the price, so you don’t need to spend additional amount. There’s a small separate room containing all the gear so you can check your size and get your one.

Personal Experience

Personally, I relished the experience. It was an exciting one especially with my friends and sunk us out quickly.

In our experience, we tried the Aqua Park and the kayaking(which we’d done before).

I preferred the Aqua Park as it was a new adventure. There were so many different obstacles to try out and the exciting part was failing it and splashing into the water. But that was also the worst part…

Speaking of the water, the cleanliness of the water is certainly inadequate. With the shallow depth of only 3-5m, the bed was very close to our feet and there was an insane amount of seaweed and dirt… It was very irritant too. Being lake water, the water essentially tastes of salt. I just felt like escaping for a shower every time I dipped or was valiantly attacked into the water. So the water was a big negative to my experience.

That aside, the obstacle course is brilliant with a leap of faith, monkey climb, 40ft pitch, bungee jump, a swing and a trampoline. Surely that’s gotta be enough.

Regardless of the negatives, this water park is truly unique and amusing. With friends or family, this would be a hilarious enjoyment. I do recommend this park for sure however take into consideration the possible negatives you may encounter in your visit. Excitement is packed at Curve Wake Park which awaits your experience. Hope you enjoy your trip!
