Switzerland – A Portraiture of Nature

, , ,

Magnificent waterfalls, imposing mountains and audacious adventures. Nature speaks for itself with impeding confidence that perplexes your thoughts and presents itself in a transcendent position. Would you like to go on Europe’s highest suspension bridge, Europe’s largest waterfall or to the top of Europe? You can only settle these daring dreams in Switzerland with many more experiences to unfold.

1) Rhine Falls (Rheinfall)

Rhine Falls, located in Rheinfallquai, is Europe’s largest waterfall. My family and I set out with very high expectations that matched the Niagara Falls. We came to know that it is, by a large scope, shorter than the Niagara Falls, however, it is given it’s name due to the volume of the waterfalls. Neglecting the expectations, the 150m wide waterfall itself was a dazzling sight for the eye. The beautiful emerald hues with the mesmerizing rainbow at the end of the falls kept us intrigued to the whole scene; even more so, with the rattling of the water against the devoting rocks.

There are multiple views to unravel the beauty of this waterfall and our walk around the falls assisted the elaborate angles excessively. We even enjoyed the extravagant boat ride that intensified the amusement by trembling the experience on the meandering waves till we could feel the fresh water on our faces. It doesn’t just stop there, there are underground caves which bring you to an even closer view.

 2) Trümmelbach Waterfalls

A sight that your eyes quest for satisfaction is the towering 140m(459ft) Trümmelbach waterfalls. The beautiful rocky mountain which carries 20, 000 litres of water per second is an unavoidable sight to see and explore. The water from this falls alone is drained from the glacier defiles of Eiger (3970 m), Mönch (4099 m) and Jungfrau (4158 m). Due to the peaking height that this fall stands on, the water is lost in spray even before it reaches the surface. Nothing was more sufficient for us than standing near this pleasantly cool breeze in the hot summer.

3) Mt Titlis

Cable Cars

Mt Titlis, a mountain range of the Alps peaking as high as 3,238m (10,000ft), offers a memorable journey with jaw-dropping sights at the top. The primary way to the top is a completely immersive take up which is accompanied by the tinkering of cows along the path. The cable car hooked us with anticipation; our joyful eyes looked out for the whiteness to come throughout. The sights and sounds in the cable car to the top will make you fall in complete love with the romantic nature of Switzerland.

During the summer, the heat inside these cable cars will exasperate you and you need to be aware that the journey lasts for 20 minutes. Additionally, if you have acrophobia (fear of heights), there is no need to panic or back off because Titlis offers a  smooth ride for you to enjoy Mother Nature.

Titlis Rotair

The Titlis Rotair is the world’s first revolving gondola that carries you right up to the summit, dropping you off at a stunning height of 3,020m above sea levelThis five minute transportation provides you with the best views of the steep rocks and white mountains in a beautiful 360 degrees panoramic view.

Titlis Cliff Walk

Are you ready to confront the 100m long daring suspension bridge? Activate your pulses and prepare your nerves for Europe’s highest suspension bridge – 500m(1640ft) off the ground and 3,041m above sea level. The 150 heart pounding steps really count when walking across this platform of tough shakiness.

Ice Flyer

Be sure to cast your eyes down into the impressive glacier world below. The Ice Flyer chair sweeps you in a nice and compact way over the milky white glacier snow. Only in Titlis, will you experience the glacier world with crevasses up to 10 metres deep.

I thought that snow cannot possibly be more engaging than Titlis; I was clearly fooled because Jungfraujoch stunned us with snow so white and bright that I can’t even put it into words.

Jungfraujoch is another mountain range of the Alps mounting up to 3,466m(11,371ft). With the pleasurable offering of more than just snow activities including its Alpine Sensation, Jungraujoch is made a different world – one you have to visit! To keep you folks engaged, there are shops, restaurants and there is also a Lindt chocolate factory accomponied with its store. However, this is not a welcome for big expectations; it’s a tremendously small chocolate factory. Although, I must include that Lindt chocolate is irresistable!

Jungfraujoch is commonly recognized by its nickname – “Top of Europe”. You may be wondering why? There’s only one way to approach the mountain which is by a cogwheel train, the arrival is located at the top and is the highest one in Europe, hence the reason it is given its name – “Top of Europe!”

5) Interlaken

If you plan a visit to Switzerland, you cannot possibly miss out on the daring adventures that Interlaken is famously known for including, sky diving, paragliding, gliding, hiking and canoeing. Our paragliding experience was fantastic, I must say! Interlaken has activities to do anywhere in the town with many shops and restaurants to engage everyone. Spending some time in Interlaken is a definite recommendation from me.
