, , ,

Have you still not been to the highest garden in London? It’s the Sky Garden of course!

Sky Garden invites you to the highest garden in London for free! It offers a 360° panoramic view, a couple of bars and restaurants and an exuberant garden right in the sky!

Now that’s what I call an evening in London. What is Sky Garden and what makes it special?

Sky Garden is located on the highest floor of 20 Fenchurch Street(more famously known as the Walkie Talkie building). It’s a unique garden with plenty of open space, a panoramic view of London through the large glass windows that surround the floor and a vibrant atmosphere filled with lush greenery.

1) Panoramic Views of London

The outside terrace(which opens based on the weather) welcomes you to the London sky and gives you a fantastic view of the city especially during dawn or dusk.

You can see the towering skyscrapers of London(including the Canary Wharf buildings and the Shard). Most of the other famous buildings(including tower bridge and the St. Paul Cathedral) in London can be viewed too.

2) Beautiful Colours

Inside the glass dome, the story is different.

I mostly enjoyed the lush greenery and the vibrant atmosphere. As I entered, the colours attracted me immediately! The combination of modern furniture and architecture with bright green colours were striking. Additionally, the constant sound of quiet chatter added to a lively, relaxed atmosphere.

In the name itself is the noun ‘garden’ which is what makes this building special. The indoor garden has a variety of plants. There were mostly green plants with some flowers scattered around. This changes from time to time as flowers bloom all year round, so, you may encounter new varieties for your visit.

3) Sky High Restaurants and Bars

Don’t wanna stop there? You have a choice to eat in the 4th highest restaurant in London.

In my visit, I didn’t eat or drink anything in the Sky Garden, however, based on reviews and other blogs, there seems to be a wide variety of drinks, snacks and a contemporary British menu. Maybe I can try something in there next time! If you’ve been there, let me know how the food is in the comments below.

4) Time to Relax

From what I observed, they looked very stylish and modern from the outside. There’s an abundance of seating and open space which makes your visit more relaxing. It’s accessible with lifts and toilets(you may need to queue up). I also felt very comfortable on the floor due to the cool breeze which kept the temperature neutral.

5) Yoga Classes

Yoga fans, you’re gonna love this one!

Sky Garden offers yoga classes!

In that space and vibrant atmosphere, I would love to try out yoga! It’s fascinating that in such a busy place like London, yoga is considered which shows the importance of taking a break and resting from work.

Yoga events are run in the morning hours and you can sign up for the classes here.

I also observed an interview taking place in a less-congested part of the garden during my visit. And sometimes, casual meetings can take place in there too.

Get Set and Go!

As the Garden is free to visit and is in London, there are visitors from all over the world. However, you are required to make a booking which you must do 3 weeks in advance to get your slot. To book your tickets and learn more click here.

I enjoyed my visit particularly because of the garden and I am sure you will savour your visit too! It’s going to be 133m high!
